The Cooperage “Farramenta” (“Tool”), founded in 1912 by Manuel Dias Ferreira was one of the large companies of the cooperage industry in the city of Esmoriz, the coopers capital in Portugal.
Remodeled and integrated in a new industrial structure, in 1962 it became Tanoaria Josafer Lda. (Cooperage Josafer Lda.). This was the result of the entrepreneurship of 3 generations of coopers that look forward to keep the local and family tradition alive.
In the last few years, Josafer consolidated it's presence in the market by specializing on the manufacture and repair of barrels and casks for the storage and aging of the best wines and whiskys in the world.
Following an invitation made by the Ovar City Council, Josafer integrates today the Ovar museological network, making their facilities a live museum whose mission is to safeguard the memory and cultural heritage of the Josafer family business.
Come visit us and find out a bit more about the history and the manufacturing process of this company that counts already with more than 100 years of history.
